The Hindi/Urdu word “UMEED” spelt in
Marathi as ‘Asha’, means ‘Hope’ in English.
The socially oppressed people,
women and unemployed youth can look hopefully towards ‘UMEED’ i.e.
"UMEED FOUNDATION".
The objective of this platform itself declares the necessity and goal or aim of
‘UMEED’.
Muslim Community was on the equal level with other
communities in almost all fields including education and Govt. services in
undivided India prior to the freedom. After the unfortunate partition in 1947,
due to occurrence of various circumstances, the Muslim community became a
radarless and became backward class economically. Earlier ratio which was 35 to
40 % in Govt. service was deteriorated to 3 to 4 %.
First generation after freedom was engaged in securing their existence and
livelihood and could not give attention to education. But then next generation
step by step came to know the importance of education. Still Muslims are lagging
behind in education compared to other communities.
The “Sacchar Commission” has uncovered the truth about the present condition of
the Muslim community. If Govt. intends to bring Muslim community on the path of
progress, long term planning is to be designed. But in last 60 years no Govt.
has taken any substantial steps. We are doubtful whether the recommendation,
suggestions and remedies suggested by Sacchar Commission will be implemented or
not.
In these circumstances time has come to think over about what I can do
for the progress of the community rather than depending upon Govt. No doubt
Govt. has duty bound to see that each community is getting equal chances of
development, but it is demand of the time that each and every member of
community should think about betterment of the community. And then within no time
transformation in the community will begin. With this noble thought “Umeed
Foundation” has been established.
The persons holding higher and important position in various
fields should come together for the betterment of the community and with this
intention “Umeed Foundation” has been established.
Just like drop by drop lake formatted, if each and every persons will
help the Umeed foundation as per his strength and capacity, a total
transformation will take initiative and the path of progress will be opened.
The increasing terrorism, the participation of some Muslims in it, has
resulted in branding the whole Muslim community as terrorists. Issuance of
contradictory fatawas from time to time, lack of proper education, high
percentage of non-admission to Muslims in Govt. services, the religious
sentimentality of Muslims, all these factors have necessitated to provide
guidance to Muslims youths so as to bring them in National Stream and protect
them from misguidance and wrong path. This will be one of the important goal of
“Umeed Foundation”.
We have determined to do such a construction work.
But it is not a work of one or two persons. It will require organized efforts of
all the components of the community. And we hope we will receive very positive
response from you.
